Happy Monday to you all! Another cold week is ahead of us this week. I don't usually mind winter but this one has been so cold you can't even enjoy outdoor activities. I have been looking forward to snow shoeing this year since all the kids are finally old enough to go, but it has been too cold. It is too early to be wishing for spring but I will take a warmer winter. Maybe next week, one can hope.
Well I am keeping busy with little projects around the house. Like these super simple and cheap paper covered boxes.
I found these boxes at a thrift shop several months ago and took a while trying to decide how I would alter them. I could not decide if I wanted to paint them or cover them. But when I found this paper the decision was easy.
I love ikat prints and have been wanting some fabric for making pillows, but these boxes are a nice start. I found this paper at Hobby Lobby.
I took pictures of the folding process, because isn't that required for a blog? But really I just folded it like I was wrapping a present. The small box used one 12 x 12 piece of paper. The bigger box used two.
Here is how I wrapped up the top, again more pictures of the process.
The top is pretty taped up underneath, but of course none of that will show.
And here are my new little boxes. In hindsight, I probably should have paid attention to the direction of the pattern so both boxes matched, oops. I love the green color and it was just what I needed since this table has been empty since taking down my Christmas Village several weeks ago. Does that happen to you after Christmas? The pre-Christmas stuff just doesn't seem to work anymore. It was time for a change.
I hope you are staying warm and healthy and had a wonderful weekend! We had great family and friend time. Time to get back into the week. Monday mornings are always a slow start. They are up at 6:00am on Sat and Sun, but on Monday I have to drag them out of bed!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to add a pop of color and pattern in a room. I have some of those type of boxes stashed away in the closet that I need to get out and do this to! I'd love for you to come join our link party (The Makers) going on now at TinySidekick.com. Hope to see you there!
ReplyDeleteTammy I love that paper! So pretty, I wish I had a Hobby Lobby near me. I have lots of those decorative boxes and was thinking about spraypainting a few of them for my bookshelves. I like your idea better - the pattern is fun. Thanks for sharing…I'll have to keep my eye out for pretty paper!
