The last two days here have been glorious! It has been in the upper 30's with the sun shining. It feels so good to feel the warmth of the sun. Amazing what it does to your mood. The kids had a half day yesterday so we were outside sledding and it was much needed time outside away from house work, homework and electronics. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next batch of warm days.
Well, I have had these plain white bowls sitting in my cupboards just screaming for a little decoration. And since gold polka dots seems to be a theme around here it was an easy decision. I have painted dishes before but never used a sharpie on them.
I found a pack of gold and silver sharpies knowing I could find a good use for them someday.
I started by outlining my circle and then filling them in. Obviously, they are not perfect. After I finished each bowl I baked them at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to set them.
I did big and little polka dots for a little variety. I liked writing on the inside as well as the outside. I will not be using these bowls for food but if you do I would just decorate the outside.
I made a light box and have been having fun experimenting with some photography. I need more practice but is has been fun. Any help I can get to take brighter pictures when the days can be so dreary and dark in the winter.
I made a bowl for each of my daughters to hold some of their jewelry. Whatever I can do to control the every growing pile of rainbow loom bracelets. The kids are making them with just their fingers now so my son and 4 year old daughter are making them just as fast. It is the perfect quiet indoor activity. It is so fun to watch their creations.
Have you tried using Sharpies on your dishes yet? There are so many colors to choose from, the possibilities are endless. Good luck!
