Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. We are supposed to get 6 inches of snow today! I am glad I can just stay home today and I am also glad the hubby is not traveling this week so he can snow blow instead of me. That is not my favorite job.
I spent some of my weekend party planning for the wine and cheese party we are having next weekend and I CAN'T wait! I needed a runner for the table and I found this cute one over at Inspired by Charm. The burlap is from Joann's which fits perfectly with the other touches of gold I have planned.
It was very easy to make, no sewing I just used some hem tape. I got one yard and cut a strip 13inches wide. 1) Because this burlap is painted I could not pull one string out as a guide for easy cutting so I measured all the way down and cut across a line. 2) I folded over a 1/2 inch along the edge and just pressed it down with my fingers. 3) I then lay down my heat n bond under the fold.
4) I used an old towel over top the burlap as I was ironing because I did not want to get any of the heat and bond on my iron and I was afraid the paint might also come off. I also had an old towel underneath just in case the paint melted with the heat. 5) The finished edge turned out really nice. And the paint stayed put but the heat and bond was messy so I am glad I had a towel on top.
And here is the finished runner.
I only "hemmed" the sides, I left the ends raw. You could also "hem" these if you wanted too.
It looks really cute, I am so pleased with how it came out.
I love quick and easy projects. That is one thing off my list for the party, I need to get crackin on the
rest of my list.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day!
